Do I need a computer?

Having your own computer is highly recommended. Grace College Akron has a small computer lab, but students will need their own computer for summer online courses.

Our minimum system requirements:

  • Windows XP sp3, OSX 10.4 or higher
  • Up-to-date antivirus software (OIT recommends Microsoft's Security Essentials)
  • Up-to-date antispyware software (OIT recommends Malwarebytes)
  • 10/100 Ethernet card and/or 802.11b/g wireless (must support WPA TKIP/PSK)

Computer/Technology Requirements

The following computer requirements are necessary to participate in online courses:

  • Windows 2000 sp4, Windows XP sp2, OSX 10.2 or higher
  • Up-to-date antivirus software (Grace offers antivirus software at no extra cost)
  • Up-to-date anti–spyware software (OIT recommends Spybot S&D)
  • 10/100 Ethernet card and/or 802.11b/g wireless (must support WPA TKIP/PSK)

Discounts on Microsoft Software

Grace has contracted with e-academy.com to be our online distributor of Microsoft products. Once you are a registered student at Grace, you qualify for discounts on software including Windows 7 and Microsoft Office. Current pricing starts at $69, not including shipping and handling. Internet Access

Grace College Akron offers internet access to all registered students and guests. 

Communication Services

Grace provides each student an email address, which all professors and staff will use to communicate important information.
